Home Remedies for treating sore throat
- Gargle with warm water consisting of about a pinch of salt dissolved in it. Repeat this every 2 hours, if possible.
- Gargle with a mouthwash. Take care that others do not share the same bottle, as they might get infected, too.
- Dissolve half tea-spoon of turmeric powder and half tea-spoon of salt in warm water. Gargle with it.
- Suck a piece of ginger with some salt sprinkled over it.
- Suck a small bulb of garlic, if you can tolerate the dominating smell and taste.

- Boil some marshmallow roots in water. Drinking this soothes the sore throat as the extract of marshmallow roots coats the membrane of the throat.
- Drink tea with some ginger boiled in it. You can also add honey and lemon to it.
- Warm milk with some honey and cinnamon powder helps too.
- Consume chicken soup or vegetable soup with lots of spices added. Substances like ginger, garlic, onion, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, basil leaves, mint leaves, honey and lemon work a lot, if added to soups.
- Add a spoon of Apple cider vinegar and a spoon of honey into a cup of warm water and drink.

- Due to sore throat, sometimes you cannot eat properly. Eating bananas is a good option as they are soft in texture and provide energy to the body. But do not eat them if you have a sore throat due to cold or cough.
- Eat acidic and citrus fruits like lemons, grapefruits and oranges.
- Eat scrambled eggs.
- Like bananas, eating oatmeal and whole wheat pasta also provide energy. They are gentle for throat too.
- Eat boiled vegetables.
- Dissolve few drops of Eucalyptus oil in water. Pour this water in a vaporizer and breathe the generated vapour, covering your head with a towel, in such a way that the steam does not escape.
